At Steel City we believe 🗣️ that giving back and being involved 🫱🏾‍🫲🏿 in our community 🏙️ is an integral part of the student experience. Our National Honor Society members chose to give back to the community during this holiday season by visiting the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. 🍞🥕🍎 Students packed over 420 bags for the food bank's mobile 🚎 market, which travels to a different Northwest Indiana community each week to provide healthy foods for those in need of food assistance. Students also delivered items collected from the Steel City Student Government's November food drive! A special shoutout 🙌🏾 to the National Honor Society staff sponsor, Mrs. Morris, for her leadership and work to provide this opportunity for our students to give back and support our community! ⚙️🔥💙 #RootedinCommunity

🎃🍎 Steel City Fall Tradition Continues! 🍎🎃 Our Baby Flames in Kindergarten and First grade had an incredible time on their annual trip to the County Line Orchard! Our students will be on break starting October 18, 2024, and we’ll welcome them back on Monday, October 28, 2024 for an Asynchronous Learning Day and back in the building on Tuesday, October 29th! 💻 Asynchronous Learning Day will take place on October 28th. Students will complete work provided by their teachers from home. All assignments are due on October 29th, and they will count toward Quarter 2 grades. The last week before fall break is full of celebrations throughout Steel City and the lunchroom is no exception! 🎉 This week we're celebrating National School Lunch Week, starting with the Indiana Great Apple Crunch! 🍎 The Great Apple Crunch celebrates the importance of local agriculture 🚜 and highlights the numerous varieties of apples grown right here in Indiana! Today at lunch students got to taste test three varieties of apples: red delicious ❤️, blondee 💛, and granny smith 💚! A special shoutout to Garwood Orchards for supplying the delicious apples.
