When people ask what makes Steel City unique, we always answer our CORE VALUES! As an organization our values are not painted on the wall or thrown on a shirt- they are lived in interactions between our community, used to intentionally create rituals & traditions and used to celebrate staff members and students who go above and beyond in their embodiment! #SchoolBuiltOnCoreValues 💙
Every month our Senior Leadership Team selects and recognizes a staff member who is the TRUE embodiment of a core value in their daily actions and interactions! 🔥 Our core value award winners are honored in front of our staff and gifted our Core Value swag! #showyourvalues

Hello Steel City Families, the Journalism class has created a monthly newsletter so that you can keep updated about what happens in this school and what events to look forward to. Throughout February, we will be organizing a series of events and activities to honor Black History Month. ✊🏽
This includes a spirit week to promote cultural pride and awareness, as well as educational initiatives to teach students about African American history. We aim to celebrate and recognize the achievements, contributions, and struggles of the black community, fostering a more inclusive and diverse environment for our students. 💙

Recently, our sixth graders experienced and participated in the Purdue Nutrition Education Program. The Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program (NEP) works to improve the nutrition and health of audiences in Indiana. Students learned about: Nutrition, Food safety, Food security (hunger), Physical activity, and Food resource management (stretching food dollars). The Nutrition Education Program has existed in Indiana since 1994 as a part of Purdue Extension and funded by multiple federal funding streams. We are thrilled our sixth graders received this experience and we look forward to future years in partnership with Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program. #WeAreSteelCityStrong
