School pictures šø have arrived! Steel City Academy students were sent home with their picture day proofs today. Make sure you take a look š and get your school pictures ordered, or start planning for retake day on Thursday, November 7th. Instructions for accessing the online ordering portal can be found on your child's picture day proofs envelope or below āļøš š„:

Our Baby Flames in Kindergarten and First grade had an incredible time on their annual trip to the County Line Orchard! Just look at these smiles as they picked pumpkins, watched the bees in action, and learned all about apples. šš

š Fall Break is almost here! Our students will be on break starting October 18, 2024, and weāll welcome them back on Monday, October 28, 2024 for an Asynchronous Learning Day and back in the building on Tuesday, October 29th!
š» Asynchronous Learning Day will take place on October 28th. Students will complete work provided by their teachers from home. All assignments are due on October 29th, and they will count toward Quarter 2 grades. Please contact your childās teacher if you have any questions.

The last week before fall break is full of celebrations throughout Steel City and the lunchroom is no exception! š This week we're celebrating National School Lunch Week, starting with the Indiana Great Apple Crunch! š The Great Apple Crunch celebrates the importance of local agriculture š and highlights the numerous varieties of apples grown right here in Indiana! Today at lunch students got to taste test three varieties of apples: red delicious ā¤ļø, blondee š, and granny smith š! A special shoutout to Garwood Orchards for supplying the delicious apples. This week kicked off our Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program šš„¬šhelping exposeš”our K-6 students to new fruits and vegetables and promote healthy eating š habits! Our college and career readiness team has been hard at work, šŖš¼ planning college tours šØš¾āššand helping our students explore the #BoundlessOpportunities after high school! This past week students had the chance to explore both University of Illinois at Chicago ā¤ļø and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign š§”š, alma mater of our very own Mr. Moore and Mr. Stevens! They enjoyed campus tours, getting to see a typical dorm room, and the dining hall experience!
